I really like it!! I especially like the idea of mentioned that your services can be a gift to an expectant mamma! Great idea.
Also great is the resources page - tons of info on there.
Is there a reason you don't post your fees? Are you doing births for free right now? I've found - and heard lots of others mention the same - that people really like to know your fee up front - they feel more comfortable with that. I didn't used to post my fee because I was a little scared to - but since I started posting it clearly I get a lot more inquiries to be honest. Something to think about anyways....

I would take off your children's birth dates. but I really like the rest of the about you. I have a real sense of your personality! Nice! Please please please, remove: Ask me how you can have the optimal birthing support for no cost! and Fees: To be discussed Instead add: The Full doula support package is $X, until certification is complete, I'm offering a $50 discount. Hide the testimonial page until you have something up. You'll fill it up soon enough. (:D) I also really like how you say what area you serve on almost every page. I find it so odd when I go to doula's website and have no idea where on earth they are located. Um, it's November: "Now Accepting Due Dates: September 2010 and After!" YOu could put: I will be in town and available over the winter holidays. It's never to late to hire a doula! And not that you asked, but, you'll be booked soon enough.

Chelsea,
Thank you so much for your input. I will be taking your advice for sure. I have had it looked at by a non-Doula but the advice was purely from a writing standpoint, so this really helped.
I can proof read anyone elses work, but am terrible with mine. I have found mistakes in my webpage even after it was proofed by someone else. So now I appreciate the view from a Doula and can adjust accordinly.
I am providing volunteer services, so do you still advise on chargeing a nomimal fee, rather than writing free, or can I write volunteer services?
Thanks again and I hope these changes will make a difference.
Kelly

i like the content of your site! but i have to admit that i'm rather shocked by the adds that show up at the right!! (in case it isn't the same everywhere, i got some violent stuff and some p*rn...) that's not really the kind of stuff i want to see as a pregnant mummi!! i suggest you change that... is this mandatory with webs? or could you change the adds spectrum? or even put some nice baby photo's up there?
i love your photos! be careful to use high resolution even for the little photos on your pages.
lots of blessings with your new career!

Really... you got those type of pop ups. No one else has mentioned anything like that before. That is terrible and I certainly don't want that happening. Thanks for telling me. Not sure what to do though, since it is a free website you definately get ads. Hum.... Any suggestions. Do you know of any paid website compaines that are not too expensive?

Thanks eveyone! I hope that these in appropriate ads don't happen anymore, but I am looking into doing a webpage that has no ads, but that will cost me $$$. So we shall see. Thanks for all the help.

Looks pretty good to me. My only suggestion is to have your links open in a new window and maybe add a picture or a short description to the links. I had no idea what the sites "Help We've Got Kids" and "Baby on the Way" were without clicking the link and going to their site. I persoanlly don't like to click a link and be taken away from the original page. If I am researching a doula I want to stay on their site and check out the info they offer and leave when I am ready. I may click a link on their page to read later but still want to read more on the original page.

Oh and I did see the ads but nothing inappropriate. I refreshed the page like 30 times and never came up with a dirty add ( just ones on asci berries, airlines, tooth whitener, AT&T, proactive, Time Warner Cable and "arrr YOU a real pirate?" lmao. Those couple adds were repeated quite a few times ... I did find it funny however that it did show up that I was the 100,000 visitor twice hehe.

I love the resources list, and the fact that the links are active. And the colors are fun :-) The contact you page is great as well~ it's nice to not have to write down a number. I also think it's great how you put that you're volunteering until you're certified. That way when you are it won't be odd that you're suddenly charging :-) Sorry this isn't more of a *critique* but I just really liked it!

It looks pretty good so far. I really like how clean and simple it is. I didn't see anything popping up at all.
