Each of my clients get both a birth story and a timeline/record of their labor 3%  3%  [ 2 ]
I occassionaly write a birth story but don't routinely include in my package of services 22%  22%  [ 16 ]
I don't write birth stories 19%  19%  [ 14 ]
I don't provide timelines/record of labors 14%  14%  [ 10 ]

I always write a birth story for all of my clients. I do it in letter form written to the baby. I print it up on pretty baby footprint stationary. The parents always love it. I wish my doulas would have written mine down. I don't believe they even took notes, which is kinda sad because there were 2 of them there. They were wonderful though! I wouldn't have had different ones.

I really like this thread. I'm considering keeping a personal journal for myself to process each birth. I'm in the prcess of writing my first birth story, and I don't quite know where to start. Thankyou to the pp who posted an example. Would anyone else be willing to share what they write in their birth stories?

I've personally never had anyone mention it when I wrote a birth story so I finally stopped. I never felt like they cared for it, unless I just wrote down something momentous--like whenever a baby had to be born via c/s I would take note of the song playing in the OR and write it down in the event they wanted to remember it. But honestly other than that I think client prefer to remember it their own way.
