Good Morning Girls
I was just considering that we are so blessed to be in the position to support women in their quests for motherhood. In our community the local hospital has implemented a "new" model of care based on the Woodwinds model (Minneapolis MN) which is pretty amazing. This model of care is BABY friendly and allows different parts to make a whole, Woodwinds is know for their model of care which focuses on mind body and spirit, to treat the entire person.
Ok

The small hospital in my town has implemented a volunteer doula program which is fantastic, a great way to support women during labor and a great way to increase awareness of doulas.

The question is 1. they want you to get MMR or have proof of MMR
2. TB testing and HR videos
3. be on call 24 hours a month which is scheduled

it is amazing because women can get their cert. births and support the community but the regulations and vaccinations are irritating me.

I am not a hospital employee nor wanting to be one, if I attend a birth paid or volunteer I do not have to be tested/vaccinated in any circumstance as a visiting doula. What are your thoughts, I am split. :sgrin

The mandatory vaccines would be a total deal breaker for me.

My 4 kids are vax'd and I'll be damned if I am gonna get mine too. BUT the volunteer doula program is brilliant - love hearing that that even exists. Birth last week in upstate Connecticut at normal hospital found out I was only their 2nd doula. Ever. YIKES. that SO needs to change!

I am afraid, hospital requirements for volunteer admission are pretty stringent. I had to go through application/interview process, background check, TB testing, hospital orientation program before I joined as a volunteer (not doula, doing hand massages and Reiki). But this work is very rewarding, so to me - worth the trouble.
