I'm getting my certification as a childbirth educator and a local doula has asked to sit in on my class for her doula requirements. She asked me how much I charge, and I can't remember from when I became a doula years ago whether I had to pay for the CBE class I sat in on or not. What's the standard for this situation?
Thanks! I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure where to post it.

I can tell you that I wasn't charged to sit in on my CBE class, but the instructor is someone I've known for a long time.
If I were you, however, I wouldn't charge, or I would charge very minimally. Especially if you have space available and she won't be taking the slot from potential paying couples. I had just come off paying for my training workshop, and I was very grateful to not have to pay for that class as well.

I was not charged for the CBE class I sat in on. It was taught by my doula trainer and I had to travel 5 hours to go to it. She did charge us $20 if we wanted to keep the binder that she supplied to all of us doulas (there was probably 8?) and the parents. I paid for the binder because it was very informative, but no she didn't charge for the class. When she came up to teach our course she did tell us when she would be doing CBE classes, which was helpful because the only ones taught in my area are not considered "ok" by DONA.

I do not charge doulas to sit in on my class. I was not charged to sit in on any of the classes I have sat in on (three).

We do charge a minimal amount to doulas who want to sit in on our CBE classes ($25) but would be open to the doula-in-training bringing snacks instead if she wanted to do that.

I think I would be too, that's actually a nice idea. Less for me to be concerned with.

Thanks, everyone! I'll just ask her to bring healthy snacks.
